„Since 1995, ICAF has been dedicated to promoting the scholarly study and appreciation of comic art, including comic strips, comic books, comics albums and graphic novels, magazine and newspaper cartooning, caricature, and comics in electronic media. The forum provides a supportive, collegial environment to showcase innovativecomics scholarship and comic art for critics, historians, teachers, and comics professionals from around the world.
ICAF is proud to welcome the University of Oregon as its host institution in 2013. This premiere public university will begin offering a new undergraduate minor inComics and Cartoon Studies in Fall 2012 under the direction of Professor Ben Saunders. The interdisciplinary minor, the first of its kind in the country, emphasizes theinternational history, interpretation, and appreciation of the comic art form. The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art also supports the development of Comics Studies on campus through exhibitions and public lectures. Previous ICAF conferences have been held at the Center for Cartoon Studies in Vermont, School of the Art Institute in Chicago, Georgetown University, and the Small Press Expo in Maryland.“
