MLA 2018 Special Session (not yet guaranteed)
This MLA special session panel invites papers that examine how contemporary South Asian comics respond to political crises and/or structural inequity. How do South Asian comics represent gender, caste, class and religious violence/oppression? Possible topics include but are not limited to the representation of marginalized groups’ struggle for justice, vigilante heroes, the nation-state’s propaganda machinery, etc.
300 word abstracts and brief bio due by 15 March, 2017 to Anuja Madan (amadan@ksu.edu).
PLEASE NOTE: This CFP is for a proposed, not a guaranteed, session at MLA 2018, meaning it is contingent on approval by the MLA Program Committee (which will make its decisions after April 1). All prospective presenters must be current MLA members by no later than April 7, 2017.
