  • superheroes and the immigrant experience
  • presentations on Italian and German comics

  • adapting stage plays as comics

NeMLA will host its 51st Annual Convention in Boston, Massachusetts, in March 2020. The convention seeks session proposals for paper panels, roundtables, workshops, and creative sessions. Proposals are due April 29, 2019, at cfplist.com/nemla with a free CFP List NeMLA account. The 2020 convention theme is “Shaping and Sharing Identities: Spaces, Places, Languages, and Cultures,” relevant for the kind of work comics and graphic narratives accomplish to represent and create locations and allow the development of personal identity.
